In tribute to Teresa Santa Clara to whom we owe the dream of transforming the Alto da Praia property into a place of distinction.
With this Programme, the Fundação Cuidar o Futuro has as its specific objective the ecological recovery of the rural area of Alto da Praia (physical heritage of the Fundação Cuidar o Futuro) in order to return native plants/species to the soil and create conditions for birds and other animals to rediscover their habitat, giving the necessary time for a natural process of soil recomposition, introduce new native plants and guide the course of waters, since the terrain is dominated by invasive plants as is the case in large areas of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
- Invasive species: on the Alto da Praia grounds three invasive species occupy a considerable area, the acacias (acacia longifolia), the reeds (arundo donax) and the ice plants (carpobrotus edulis). These species dominate, altering the base of the ecosystem, preventing other species from developing, as well as driving away the natural fauna of the region.
- Possible native species: trees and shrubs: olive tree (olea europaea), oak (quercus faginea), stone pine (pinus pinea), juniper (juniperus turbinata), mock privet (phillyrea angustifolia) and others. Herbs and flowers.
Other specific dimensions of the action include: promoting the use of renewable energies and forms of recycling, namely rainwater harvesting, a greywater management system, recycling food and other materials, installing a permaculture system, among others.
This Programme has the support in its conception of Justin Söndergaard from the Kanela association.
